This Privacy Policy describes how PV Design Pro (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the application.
Overview
PV Design Pro is a professional solar PV and battery storage design toolkit, providing engineering calculators, project management tools, and reference material for solar engineers, consultants, and installers. Most of the app’s core functionality — calculations, project data, and equipment records — is stored locally on your device.
Information We Collect
Information stored locally on your device
The app stores the following data locally, using your device’s storage. This data is not transmitted to us unless you explicitly use a backup feature (see below):
- Project details you create (site surveys, checklists, installed equipment, tasks, schedules, financial figures)
- Photos you take or attach to a project
- Custom equipment specifications you add to the equipment database
- App preferences and settings
Camera
The app requests camera access so you can attach photographs to a project (for example, site survey or installation photos). Photos are only captured when you actively choose to take one, and are stored on your device unless you choose to share or export them yourself.
Location
The app requests location access (fine and coarse) to power two optional field tools: a compass with true-north correction, and a weather-conditions check for your current site. Location is used only while these tools are active and is not stored or transmitted by us.
Notifications
The app requests notification permission to deliver reminders for maintenance tasks and project deadlines that you set within the app.
Internet and network state
The app requires an internet connection for certain features (for example, loading the CEB website, checking current weather conditions, and serving advertisements). We check your network status to determine whether these features are available.
Third-Party Services
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Free-tier use of the app displays advertisements served through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and other information to serve and measure ads, in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob’s data collection practices. You can review Google’s own disclosures for more detail on what AdMob collects.
Subscriptions (Google Play Billing)
Premium features are available through an auto-renewing subscription processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details — these are handled directly by Google Play in accordance with Google Play’s Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy. We receive only confirmation that a subscription is active, which is used to unlock premium features within the app.
Cloud backup (optional, if enabled)
The app may offer an optional feature to back up your project data to your own Google Drive account. If you choose to use this feature, your project data is uploaded to a location under your control within your own Google Drive account, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not have access to this data. If this feature is not enabled or you do not use it, no data leaves your device via this pathway.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your locally-stored project data, photos, or equipment records with third parties, except:
- Where required to operate the third-party services described above (AdMob, Google Play Billing, and optional Google Drive backup), each governed by that provider’s own privacy policy
- Where required by law
Children’s Privacy
PV Design Pro is a professional engineering tool intended for adult users working in the solar and electrical design industry. It is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Security
Your project data is stored locally on your device. We recommend using your device’s built-in security features (such as a screen lock or biometric authentication) to help protect this data. If you use the optional cloud backup feature, your data’s security in transit and storage is governed by Google’s own security practices for Google Drive.
Your Choices
- You can deny or later revoke camera, location, and notification permissions at any time through your device’s system settings; the corresponding optional features will simply be unavailable.
- You can delete a project, photo, or custom equipment entry at any time from within the app, which removes it from your device.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally-stored data associated with it, except any data you separately backed up to your own Google Drive.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
